Saint Kateri Tekakwitha
Saint Kateri Tekakwitha was a young Mohawk woman who was very close to her mother. Her mother taught her about Christianity, and taught her many prayers. However, her mother died from smallpox when she was a young girl, so she was then raised by her uncle. Saint Kateri Tekakwitha’s strong faith cost her, her life. She died for her faith, and became a martyr. We celebrate Saint Kateri Tekakwitha on July 14th.
